Next steps of the BALTICBEAT project supporting the energy cooperative in Sierakowice

The BALTICBEAT project continues its cooperation with the Municipality of Sierakowice in supporting the development of a local energy cooperative. The project has been involved in the initiative since the early stages of activities aimed at establishing the Energy Cooperative “Centrum Zielonej Energii”. In 2025, a series of workshops and expert meetings was organised to support the creation of the cooperative. Following its establishment, current activities focus on supporting its operation and further development.

On 9 March 2026, another meeting took place at the Sierakowice Cultural Centre with the participation of representatives of the “Centrum Zielonej Energii” Energy Cooperative, the Municipality of Sierakowice, experts and the BALTICBEAT project team. Expert knowledge was shared by Krzysztof Solarz from Sudecka Energia in Kamienna Góra – one of the first and exemplary energy cooperatives operating in Poland – and Dr Sylwia Horska-Schwarz from the Department of Landscape Research and Environmental Management at the University of Gdańsk. The discussion focused on issues related to the functioning and development of the cooperative, including internal settlement mechanisms, risks associated with cooperative operations, the optimal energy mix and energy management, environmental assessment of potential investments, and opportunities to apply for additional funding to support the cooperative’s activities.

Further cooperation between the BALTICBEAT project and the Municipality of Sierakowice is planned, with additional activities aimed at supporting the development of the energy cooperative in the municipality.
