The Interreg South Baltic Programme’s Annual Event 2025 was held in Rønne, Bornholm, bringing together over 100 participants at the Green Solution House hotel. Over two inspiring days, representatives of public authorities, research institutions, NGOs, and business partners celebrated cross-border cooperation, presented innovative solutions, and explored new opportunities for the region’s sustainable future. Among the invited guests were also project manager and coordinator of the BALTICBEAT project from the University of Gdańsk.
The event coincided with Interreg Cooperation Day and the 35th anniversary of Interreg, highlighting more than three decades of successful European cooperation. The opening speeches by Jacob Trøst, Mayor of Bornholm, and Monika Jurczyk from the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy set a positive tone, followed by insights into the Programme’s progress shared by Małgorzata Skolmowska, Head of the Joint Secretariat.
A panel discussion, moderated by Marta Niciejewska, Deputy Head of the Joint Secretariat, showcased how South Baltic projects are driving change. Experts presented initiatives ranging from sustainable energy and waste management to health and tourism, underlining the Programme’s diversity and impact.
Participants also engaged in a bustling project expo and study visits that demonstrated practical achievements in the circular economy, green transition, cultural heritage and tourism, and sustainable transport. These sessions offered valuable networking opportunities and inspiration for future cooperation.
The second day featured hands-on workshops focusing on project implementation, reporting, and ensuring lasting impact. Experts from the Joint Secretariat and the Interact Programme provided practical guidance and tools to strengthen the South Baltic community’s efforts.
The event concluded with an invitation to the Annual Event 2026 in Lithuania, promising another opportunity to connect visionaries, innovators, and regional partners working together for a greener, more prosperous South Baltic.
